We are so excited to partner once again with the PWNA to offer this incredible opportunity for you to explore the Northern Plains, and see in person the daily impact your generous donations have on the Native American communities in the area.
September 8 | Arrive in Billings, MT. Depending on your arrival time, the rest of the day is free to enjoy as you wish. In the evening, meet staff and fellow travelers at a welcome reception and dinner.
September 9 | Travel to Cody, WY, historic home of Buffalo Bill Cody and the Cody Museums - the Whitney Gallery, Plains Indian Museum, Cody Firearms Museum, & the Buffalo Bill Museum. Continue to the South Loop of Yellowstone National Park, Yellowstone Lake, and the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone. Anticipate close-up views of elk, bison, and a host of other wildlife. Overnight in West Yellowstone, MT.
September 10 | Loop through Yellowstone National Park; Fountain Paint Pots, Old Faithful Geyser, Mammoth Hot Springs’ calcium terraces. Return to Billings, MT.
September 11 | Explore Pompey’s Pillar National Monument, picnic near the banks of the Yellowstone River (weather permitting), see Chief Plenty Coups State Park & Museum. Return to Billings, MT.
September 12 | Visit the Little Bighorn Battlefield - where Custer was defeated by Sitting Bull, afternoon at Devil’s Tower, WY, and dinner in historic downtown Deadwood, SD. Transfer to Rapid City, SD for the night.
September 13 | Early start as we jump into a full day experiencing the history of the Black Hills area through the lens of the Native American perspective - visiting the Wounded Knee Massacre Site, White River Visitor Center, historic storefronts at Scenic, SD, as well as lunch and tour of PWNA Plains office and warehouse.
September 14 | Tour the Crazy Horse Memorial and museum, a stunning tribute to the famous Oglala Sioux chief and world’s largest sculpture in progress. Visit with local Native American artisans. Mount Rushmore National Monument in the afternoon, followed by a farewell reception with PWNA staff in Rapid City, SD.
September 15 | Depart for home from Rapid City, SD! Hotel check out time is typically by 11:00am this day. Please note: You arrive in Billings, MT, and depart from Rapid City, SD. Arrange your flights/transportation accordingly.
